6 weeks with a caravan and three young kids!!

Hi guys, I've never posted on here before but am desperate for some advice please?! I am starting to plan a 6 week holiday next year (kids summer holiday so july/august 2014) and have no idea where to start. I can't even decide on a country/countries, lol.

My first thought is Italy but the obvious touristy places that I'd actually like to see are going to be crazy busy and that's a bad start already considering I'll have three children to see to. So I feel kind of stuck...I'm open to any suggestions!

-Would ideally like to stay 3+ nights at each caravan site, don't want to mess about and move too often, I will be the only adult and therefore will have to do everything myself :(
-Enjoy peace and quiet
-Nice scenery, pleasant drives between locations

I'm really quite easy going but have never 'travelled' before and don't know where to begin so any advice would be lovely. Thanks

I don't have specific suggestions for you but a 'just in case' translation for our North American members Caravan = Travel Trailer/Motorhome.

Most any of the 'usual' suspects Italy/southern France/Spain are going to be pretty hot, in addition to being crowded. Maybe consider Germany or northern/northwest France. Still summer crowds but not like down south.

Maybe the Netherlands, northern Germany and Denmark would appeal.
Plenty of good campsites, some great beaches, interesting places for adult and kids to visit, not too hot, or too crowded.

Odd as it may sound Luxembourg is also really good for campsites and things for kids. Rivers to paddle and fish in, cable car, cheap petrol(!), lovely scenery. Combine it with maybe the Vosges in France, or the Black Forest in Germany.

With 6 weeks take your time, aim at maybe a week per stop. The kids will soon make international friends and hopefully so will you.
Good luck.

Thank you both! I'm really liking the idea of Germany, the Black Forest looks amazing, even better if I take a Grimm's brothers book with us for some scary stories round the campfire, lol.

Have you considered Brittany?
My son has three children under five and they loved it. Mind you, they were in a gite, not a caravan.
A quick Google shows that there are plenty of caravan and camping sites

The really big campers are the Dutch and you find them all over but especially the Mosel, the Rhine towards the black forest and then every water front down to the tip of Portugal. I'd also look at camp site companies. These guys get good words http://www.eurocamp.co.uk/
