6 weeks in Paris - eating/blogging/eating

We're staying in a lovely apartment in the 1st for 6 weeks....then off to Venice and Croatia - blog link here (mainly food - we'll get to a museum soon!)

I loved your photos. We were there over Christmas and I loved it...I took several pics at Le Bon Marche and we enjoyed gawking over the food.

I'm thrilled to see your Parisian blog here as I referenced your South America report while planning our trip down there.
The food photos are terrific. Thanks for sharing.

Stayed in that same wonderful apartment two years ago, and you can't help but enjoy the surroundings. Thanks for sharing your blog and continue to enjoy your travels. EJ

I am officially envious - what a wonderful trip! I'll be especially interested to read about your experiences in Croatia, which is on my "to visit" list.

elsiejune - it's a lovely apartment, isn't it? I was a little concerned about the area as we usually stay on the Left Bank but the apartment was one of the few I found with an open kitchen which is important to us. It turns out the location is terrific - perfectly situated to walk just about anywhere.

PA_Kathy - I better get going on planning for Croatia! I left it until now because it's not very busy in March so we can book late.

Liz, nice find on that Venice apartment. My daughter and I were in Venice over Christmas and stayed in a much smaller place near San Marco. Having explored the city a bit more, I think we would have been very happy in Dorsoduro. (I'll wish you better weather than we had: rain and acqua alta, but we were equipped with umbrellas and rubber boots.)

About your neighbourhood in Paris, you have doubtless explored, but have you found Le Coq Saint-Honoré at 3 rue Gomboust? (It's on the west side of ave de l'Opéra, one block south of rue Danielle Casanova.) They have delicious poultry products; we bought a guineafowl there a few years ago and cooked it for our Christmas dinner. It was supurb.

Another place to take a look: if you walk north through Passage Choiseul (across the street from the apartment) and then walk north on rue de Choiseul between rue Saint-Augustin and rue du 4 Septembre, you will walk by two very old merceries, each displaying sewing and embroidery items in the window. We found it fascinating.

Hi Ernie - funny you should mention Le Coq Saint-Honoré - friends of ours arrive tomorrow from Devon and they are game bird aficiandos - we plan to go there and buy birds to cook in the apartment. I shall report on our success!

Thank you for the merceries info - we've always turned right on rue Saint Augustin - will go straight next time!

Best

Liz
