Great to see the rest of the report.
Here are my comments and questions pre-last days: Darn! Hope the last part gets posted soon. What an amazing trip and trip report. I keep wanting to write 'muscles' as your post name. I took some notes: "I came to understand the French revolution." I said the same thing upon my first view of Versailles! The one and only time I made a Grand Marnier souffle, DH happened along as the GM bottle glugged as I poured! First time I ever heard him scream! Join the "left lane is for passing" group! In the D.C. area, a Dr. Nestor wrote to the paper that he was sick and tired of people speeding and would go the only limit in the express lane. Such driving became known as 'Nestoring'! Did the LeRecto folks get to Chicago? Great that you hit Aix on a high note. We made it a base and loved the student vibe and the area away from Cour Mirabeau. Again, I do hope the rest of your TR gets posted! Great job! |
Wonderful day!
Everything you did today sounds wonderful!

@mcslees -- thank you for taking the effort to come back and read your report. It was so great to see France through your eyes.
I think the auto-correct scrambled up a name, and the vision it created caused me to chuckle: "The Enfant Rogue Market". I had images of a wild, out-of-control child running through the Enfants Rouges market (a great little place). You really have a knack for researching the food places and finding memorable dining experiences. |
There are so many things wrong with this report, but since you loved what you did, I will hold my tongue.

kerouac, you could say that about any TR on Fodor's. You have the advantage of living in France, so what seems old hat or touristy to you is a one-time thrill for many of us. I've enjoyed this TR tremendously. Laura and Mike didn't push themselves; they focused on eating, a little shopping, some museums, and they enjoyed what came their way. They sound like they found the best way for them to visit Paris. I like the way they traveled. And Mike recounted their visit in a very pleasant way and was able to express their enjoyment and to share it with us.What's better than that?

++ Coquelicot. What is banal to locals can be thrilling to visitors. And it seems to me that much of what Mike recounts is far from banal and invoked in a feeling of great nostalgia not just for Paris but also for travel in cities in general which being a country mouse I miss a great deal. He also reminded me of the last visit Bill and I made to Paris which included a visit to the Marmottan as well as the big Monet exhibition in the Grand Palais and the England v France rugby match at Stade deFrance as a bonus. [or am I conflating two trips? possibly]. Still, all lovely memories which I am enjoying revisiting because of this TR.

What Coquelicot wrote! Never lose the first time thrill if possible. With my senior memory, that is getting easier. 😁

Paris
I thought the Paris trip was now... It sounds like you had a great time.

Thank you for taking the time to share your report, I enjoyed it a lot.
Too bad you couldn't post your photos. It seems hit and miss. Sometimes it works well for me, and sometimes not so much. |
