6 days to split between Rome and Prague.. 3 and 3? 4 and 2?

having 6 1/2 days (factoring flying time) to split between Prague and Rome, would most give Rome the 4 1/2 and Prague 2 days... or split it evenly. I know here is more to do in Rome than Prague... looking for opinions

Thanks!

Rome 6 Prague 0. Just my opinion.

Lexma90 Jun 26th, 2010 07:08 AM

Depends on what you like to do. I would probably vote for Rome 6, Prague 0 as well, but primarily because I love the art, history (ancient Rome) and restaurant experiences that Rome has to offer.

Prague is a little jewel of a city, and very cute, and we enjoyed our time there. We especially appreciated learning about the recent communist and post-communist history. But Prague doesn't have the depth and breadth of art and history that Rome does. And IMHO, the food is about 10% as good as Italian food. And we have traveled in Europe quite a bit, though haven't visited every country, and consider ourselves sophisticated travelers.

If you want your trip to include two different destinations, maybe consider another location within Italy, or spend a day or two in the Italian countryside.

Funny - I planned on posting "6-0" when I saw your title, but it appears that others beat me to it! 4-2 at most, for same reasons as Lexma's.

Have fun regardless.

6 and 0 and start thinking about a separate trip to Prague for next time. (8 and 5 would be ideal but since you have only 6 nights this time...)

Rome 6
Prague 0

Did not like Prague at all.

Love Rome or anyplace in Italy.

We enjoyed Prague a lot (and want to go back), but I agree with giving all 6 days to Rome and planning a separate trip that includes Prague.

Love both cities.

If you really have 6.5 days (after deducting the day you arrive, the day you leave and the day you travel from one to another) I would do 4.5 Rome and 2 Prague - but realize you are giving both short shrift.

If you have not deducted everything I said - just stick to Rome and really see some of it, ejoy the atmosphere and learn a little about the culture.

(As noted above, Prague is a little jewel - have been there 4 times and wold go back again in a shot. But it just doesn't have the effect of Rome - which has been there for the best part of 3,000 years - ruled the world for almost a millennium - and is a major center of western civilization.)

Never been to Rome until this year in August, been to Prague twice, but Rome is so big and full of history, art, food, so many places and museums I would like to see, plus the Vatican, loved Prague so I would splt it Rome 4 Prague 2. Have fun!

I really like Prague but I would not split 6 days between the 2 destinations. I would devote the entire time to Rome. If you have to make a choice then 4 for Rome and 2 for Prague.

mardee1000 Jun 27th, 2010 08:34 AM

I agree with all the above - on my last trip to Italy, I spent 7 days in Rome and could easily have spent more. It's an incredibly vibrant city, rich in history, culture, art and scenic treasures. Stick with Italy for this trip - and if you really want to get out of Rome for a day, do a day trip to Ostia Antica or someplace similar.

Getting from Rome to Prague will burn most of a day, factoring in time to/from the airport, checkin, and 2 hr flight. If you're going to go to Prague then I'd get the earliest possible flight so you at least have 1/2 a day in Prague. It looks like Czech airlines has a 7:45am out of Rome but no other non-stops until later in the day.

You didn't ask about alternate destinations, so ignore this next part if you wish. Both Naples and Florence are just a 90min train ride from Rome, so you could quite easily - 4/2 Rome/Florence and avoid the travel time to Prague since your total vacation time is rather limited.

Definitely Rome 6 plus and Prague 0. There is a reason that Rome is one of the number one layovers for all airline crews!
History, eating and drinking, shopping, more history-well you get the idea!Prague is definitely a different trip at a much later date?

I just saw your other thread-Rome in August. Ah NO! Hot,humid and miserable with many restaurants closed for vacations, etc. Give us your dates, what you like to do and we will help you out.
