It may be best to head straight to Wengen on the 26th (don't forget jet lag). It takes 3 hours to exit the airport and then get from Zurich to Wengen. Call it a 3:30 pm arrival. It will be more like 6 pm if you divert into Zurich city for a walking tour.

Visit Bern later in the week as an easy day-trip from Wengen. It's about 1.5 hours away.

As for other activities near Wengen, there is hiking, visiting the Schilthorn peak, the Swiss Open Air museum near Ballenberg, Trummelbach falls, Thun castle, more hiking, biking, paragliding, etc.

You can't count on the weather in the mountains being clear on specific days. Jungfraujoch may be swathed in clouds when you arrive at the top, having paid a lot to see nothing.

There are weather cams for the high mountains. Here's one for jungfraujoch: https://www.webcamgalore.com/webcam/...joch/3181.html.

Keep your schedule loose so you can adapt to the weather. If it rains, go to Bern.

I see from your other thread you have two children, 6 and 9. Two places in Luzern my son at that age loved was the Swiss Transport Museum (lots of fun things to do!) and the Dying Lion monument (Löwendenkmal). He also enjoyed walking across the two covered bridges and checking out the swans (do not get too close!).

The kids might also like the luge ride near the Mt. Pilatus summit near Luzern.

They may also like the open air museum near Ballenberg. It has lots of traditional Swiss structures, farm animals, demonstrations of traditional production methods, etc.

The train ride back and forth to Engleberg for the Mt. Titlis cableway is scenic in and of itself and that excursion will take the good part of a half day. The three-part ride up and down is not cheap but worthwhile IMO; Swiss passes get you a discount.

Agree about the transport museum; Trummelbach Falls despite being privately owned are worth a stop AND fog-shrouded or not the views up and down to/from Jungfrau are spectacular!!!

For info on Swiss trains and various passes -Swiss Pass - Berner Oberland Pass, etc check www.sbb.ch -Swiss Railways; www.swisstravelsystem.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com. Family Passes are free at any station and give kids under 16 traveling with at least one parent free travel on anything a parent has a ticket or pass for - even Jungfraujoch trains.
