6 days in Sicily
Hi All,
I'm hoping to get some advice about "must sees" for Sicily. My husband, 19yo son & I will have 6 days there in late October and will be driving. Any accommodation tips would also be appreciated. Cheers, Ozlinz |
Six days is not very long--I would propose east or west in that time. Here is my trip report from 2005--we had 15 days.

I prefer the west with Agrigento, Segesta, and Cefalu.

I agree that six days is short-changing a fascinating island. I loved Ortigia in the east, but if I had to pick one side it would probably be the west - Palermo (especially Monreale), Trapani, Erice, Cefalu, Agrigento... Here's my TR: http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...ing-sicily.cfm

I don't know how anybody can answer this question without knowing anything about the interests of the travelers.
Ozlinz, there are no "must-sees" that 3 different people must see. Why have you all chosen Sicily as a destination? |
I loved the east side of Sicilia. We stayed in a villa just south of Siracusa, and went into the old part of the city (Ortigia) to dine most nights. We visited the baroque towns of Noto, Modica and Ragusa. Also went to Catania and Taormina, Agrigento and Caltagirone. A beautiful place!

There is one must see thing: Etna volcano, if you miss that, you'll miss the most impressive thing in Sicily.

Thank you for all your suggestions! Stepsbeyond, the reason for Sicily is that we have been to Italy many times(with lots of help from Fodorites) as my husband is Italian, but we have never had the time to get to Sicily! We are determined to get there this time! I will eagerly read Bob & Thursdays trip reports in helping to make a decision!
Thank you, Ozlinz |
