6 days in Provence
I'm planning a summer vacation for myself and my boyfriend. We start with 3 days in Paris and then head to Provence but I'm not sure what would be the best way to "do" Provence in 6 days. We'll be travelling by bus/train and mainly interested in nightlife and beaches, with a little culture thrown in (just the absolute must-sees). Ideas?

If it's nightlife and beaches you want, you might try a few days at Cassis and then a few more in the St-Tropez area. From Cassis you could see the fine-arts museum and archaeological museum in Marseille, and in St-Tropez is the very good Annonciade Museum. That would give you the best of both worlds. Another good spot would be Juan-les-Pins, next to Antibes; Juan has a small but lovely sand beach, whereas those near Nice offer pebbles and rocks. From Juan you could see the Picasso Museum in Antibes and the many cultural spots in and around Nice.

Underhill, thanks for your suggestions. After reading tons of other replies to other posts I'm thinking that since it's my boyfriend's first time in France, maybe we should stay in Paris the whole time with perhaps a Versailles trip thrown in. We're not much into spending hours investigating cathedrals etc though so he'll probably get tired of them fairly quickly and this will be my 4th time so I'm trying to work out the best way to include the obligatory tourist stops without becoming bored halfway through and not having a plan. We'll have 10 days total and I don't know when we'll get back there (perhaps honeymoon:-))) so I don't really want to miss anything.

With only nine days total I'd be inclined to skip Provence. You could stay in Paris the whole time, thus getting lots of good nightlife, and just take a few day trips to places like Versailles, Chantilly, and other close-in spots.

Tend to agree with ten days , soak up the romance in Paris! However, if you decide on Provence which is heaven...go to Avignon and/or Aix en Provence...you'll never be the same! Bon chance! I want to go again!

Agree with above..our first rip to Paris was two weeks in length..and we barely scratched the surface. We're returning in the Fall for 8 days total in Paris and two in Provence(Aix and West only.)

that's two weeks in Provence.
