6 days after Paris. Normand/Brittany by car? Or, Champagne/Alsace?
Hi All,
Never been to France and love countrysides of Europe. We will have 6 days to travel after London/Paris. Thinking about Brittany/Normandy, but first choice would be
Champagne/Alsace and maybe a trip to Germany (all via car). Black Forest perhaps? You are all such well seasoned travelers...I ask...what would you do in this case? Leaning toward the Alsace/Black Forest idea. Seems like you can get a lot of culture into one trip. But, I don't know if we can get back to Paris within 6 days, to do all of this and fly out of there? We can train, too. And, then pick up a car somewhere? Drop it somewhere...
We are newly married, early 30s, love beer, wine, people, each other and life! Thank you all.

We did Alsace, Reims, and a small portion of the Black Forest this past June. Loved it, especially Alsace. Type in Alsace in the text search and there is a lot of useful information.
If you decide on Alsace, here's link to some hotels in the region: http://www.visit-alsace.com/hotels/hotels_ang_3e.html
We stayed at L'Ami Fritz in Ottrott and would highly recommend it as a base for exploring the wine route.

Did 6 days in Normandy prior to a week in Paris in October. Great to travel--we drove. We also have spent that much time in Provence--equally appealing, or even a bit moreso. If you do that take the TGV to Avignon and rent the car, sightsee, take the TGV back to CDG, ideally.

We used Discovering the Villages of France by Michael Busselle to find interesting villages on our way to and in Alsace. We also stopped by Nancy, which has a beautiful 18th century square. Other places to visit: Troyes (the second capital of Champagne) and Ronchamp (Le Corbusier chapel). I would do a circle trip (up via Nancy, down via Troyes) with Strasbourg as the end point. Unless there is a special reason for going there, I would leave out the Black Forest on this trip.
