5 weeks in europe?
 

where would you go? what would you do? where would you stay if you had 5 weeks in europe, you were travelling alone, and money was not a worry?

Being as how this is your first visit to Fodor's forum, I'd suggest that you read everything on it for the next few weeks to get some ideas. Then ask some specific questions.

Money not a worry? Easy.

I'd do the Small Luxury Hotel tour of Europe:

Then I'd have the utter audacity to never spend time in the hotel. I'd be out sightseeing all day.

I agree with hopscotch that you need to ask more specific questions and give us a start.

In addition it really doesn't make any difference what I would do. The quesion is what would be right for you. If I told you I am a car mechanic and that I'd spend five weeks visiting car factories and looking under the hoods of cars -- would that have any application to you?

If this isn't just a rhetorical question, you need to tell us something about what you're interested in. Or maybe it just is a rhetorical question?

Hi, how fortunate you are to have five weeks to spend in Europe with unrestricted means. If I were you, I would elect to spend some of that time on an luxurious Abercrombie and Kent tour of that area of Europe with which you are most unfamiliar.

I was too general. 3 years ago I hostelled through 14 countries (at age 38) and had an awesome time (alone). This time I have 5 weeks and am tempted to do the same. (Ireland, UK, and most of Western Europe and Scandinavian provinces.) Just like seeing a great movie the second time, I believe I would enjoy the area so much more. I wanted your input but I tried to be brief. Thank you for your help and yes..I am very lucky and fortunate. Thanks again. I am open to any suggestions: i love food, wine, people, new experiences, architecture, people, the country side, people (lol) and Europe. Thx again. :)

You would have the means to get very nice apartments or hotel rooms in a few great cities and just enjoy them and the surrounding area. I'd be tempted to do something like 10 days each in London, Paris, and Rome - and then maybe one or two other places.

Well I think I have put together a pretty sweet trip. See my post "5 week European Itinerary". The only major change I would make if I had unlimited funds would be to stay at 5 star hotels, eat like a King, and send home plenty of pricy gifts!

tim- i'd do similar to the trip you did before, but stay in a bit nicer (small local charming) hotels instead of hostelling.

i often return to places i have enjoyed before, it's easier to plan, the cultural shock and get-aquainted time is less than exploring a city for the first time.

Oh, maybe skip a couple of your least favorites from the first trip, and add a new city/country or two this time.

Keeping the best of the previous but adding a bit of spice for something new.
