5 Takes Europe
 

I am at home today sleeping in and watching t.v--happens that a repeat of the show "5 Takes Europe" is on in marathon. It's bringing back so many memories from my college backpacking and study abroad days! Anyone else catching it? I recommend it for those who have kids preparing for 1st time travel abroad too.

I'm laying around, cleaning up after Christmas and watching the 5 Takes marathon.

Prague looks amazing and very interesting. I especially like the part when they said that beer is incredibly inexpensive.

I am having a good time watching these kids going around and jealous that they get 7 days in each city. I am very curious as to what genius from the Travel Channel decided to air the shows out of travel order. BTW--I am definitely taking my laptop and hitting the internet cafes during my March trip to Bavaria and Austria. What fun to blog with friends and strangers while on the trip!

It is kind of annoying that the episodes are out of order.

They get a week in each destination. However, their budget is $50 each day, and that has to cover lodging. But they are young and things like nice beds aren't as important when you just finished college.

They are repeats. I disliked them then and dislike them now. The five of them show up in every city clueless about everything. For example, their arriving in Amsterdam without any lodging and then deciding to sleep in the train station is not what I call a good example for other first time travellers.

Watching others make mistakes sure teaches some of us! Ex. "Ride the gondola once in Venice then use the Vaporetto." Their cluelessness is what makes them charming, the wide-eyed "cool" comments...etc. I didn't say it was Emmy material, just that it brings back memories.

I found it interesting enough and it's fun to see the scenes in familiar places. Emmy material? No, but I still give it an overall thumbs up -- (especially compared to televised poker matches! Gimme a break!)
