5 Star hotel or villa in Provence -late April
 

The 3 sisters are traveling to Provence with their spouses this April to celebrate one of the sisters' 60th birthday. We will be spending 3 nights at Villa Gallici in Aix en Provence and are now looking for another lux property either in or walking-distance to another town in Provence. We are fun, foodie, discriminating travelers, and we travel well together. We will not be renting a car, and will have access to a 7 pax mini van for several days (full days); we would like to be close enough to town that we can shuttle in from the hotel, or walk into town. Need help with Towns and Hotel recommendations!

We are looking into Le Vallon De Valrugues in St. Remy as an option and would consider the 3 bedroom Villa that the property offers. Is this a good option? Are the rooms nice? Some reviewers have commented that they look a little tired.....
Baumanier Le Baux de Provence looks lovely, but are they too remote?
We would consider Avignon as a town. Any recommendations there?

We stayed at Le Vallon about 8 years ago in a regular room and thought it was quite nice. Room was a bit small and if we stay there again would get an jr suite. Did not think it run down 8 years ago. Easy parking, nice pool. A 15 minute walk into St Remy.
I am not sure what you intend to do when you don’t have transportation. Have been to Provence 5 times and we drive almost every day.

We will have access to transportation daily while we are there. May need to also rent a car, however.
What are your favorite towns as far as charm, things to do, restaurants and culture? (Yes, that's a mouthful!!)

There is also a hotel in central St Remy, the Hotel de Tourrel that might be nice. It does not have a nice outdoor pool and I have no idea about parking. Does have a nice Michelin one star restaurant and a good wine store. Did not stay there but did like the restaurant. There is so much to do in Provence that it is hard to know what to recommend. Do get the Michelin Green book for Provence. St Remy is really in a good central location from which to explore this area of Provence.
