5 nights from paris

Hi all! We are in Paris mid June and then have 5 spare nites.
Will rent a car and and want to head towards Portofino with night 1 south of the champagne region. Any ideas where we can spend nites 2, 3, 4 would be appreciated. Thinking along the Riviera to monte carlo and up to Lisieux on nite 5... I know it sounds like cramming alot in but any advice would be welcome.

st Paul De Vence If you haven't been Go! Fabulous hilltop village above Nice. Very charming and close to so many sights yet less crowded, especially at night.

Are you ending your trip in Portofino? Seems like a long way to drive for a day in Portofino.

I hope you're not renting a car in France and planning to drop it off in Italy - will cost you a fortune. If the idea is to get to Italy for a bit after Paris, fly. You can't imagine what a haul on the autoroutes is in store for you. And what's so special about Portofino that you'd contemplate this?

Whoo! The responses you are getting are startled because you are treating France like southern California. Unless you think you can see a country by looking out a car window, consider this adjustment: Stay in Paris. There is still plenty to find new and different (I've been there 20 times.) If too restless, take the TGV to Avignon, settle in, take a day trip or rent a car to see the countryside. Slower is better.
