5 days to spend in the Dublin / Armagh area
I am taking my mother to the Newry area (southeast end of N. Ireland) to see where her grandmother grew up. While some time will be spent looking up gravestones & maybe some distant relatives, we have 5 whole days + 2 travel days. We're flying in & out of Dublin. Any recommendations of what to do & see, where to stay (4 budget minded people) without spending too much time in the car. Interests lie along the lines of natural beauty, Irish music, historical sights, interesting churches...Thanks for the imput.

Carlingford is a lovlely litttle town off the road to Dundalk/Newry. There It is on the water and has nice hotels/restaurrants and walkingin the hills. Its a nice relaxing small place and worth a day trip or overnight.

I second Siobhan's suggestion for Carlingford. It's a lovely town, and only about 20 minutes drive from Newry. Let me know if you want a list of places to stay there, or places to eat, as I go there quite often myself.
