Last time I checked the rate for the lowest category room at the Crillon was 750 euros ($1,005) per night, low season; buffet breakfast eu 49/person more. Most would say the hotel borders on luxury, at least. Four star lux is the highest star rating assigned to hotels in France. While there, you might enjoy the fabled in-house restaurant, Les Ambassadeurs, which is all about luxury, as well.

Hope yourself and your boyfriend enjoy your trip.

When you stay at the Walt, here are our favorite restaurants that are walkable: Le Florimond (one block), Leo Le Lion (one block), Les Clos des Gourmets (three blocks), D'Chez Eux (two blocks) and Cafe Constant et all (three blocks).

Could add a zillion more restaurants nearby, but will only add the rest of the Constant ones..all four on r. St.Dominique from Bourdonnais, in this order: on next corner Cafe Constant, then Les Cocottes, Violon d'Ingres and last but certgainly not least, is Fables des la Fontaine...

enjoy....Joan

How much more are you willing to spend for your splurge nights? I stayed at the Pavillon de la Reine on the Place des Vosges in September which is a lovely four star boutique hotel with rates starting around the low to mid-300 euro range (check out the smart rate available online which includes breakfast).

I know must of you prefer the left bank but I always stay at The Brighton Hotel. Since I travel solo I like to be centrally located.

The hotel has recently been renovated. They have low season rates. Request a room with a Tuileries view. The other rooms look into a courtyard. With the Tuileries view you can see The Louvre, Tuileries, D'Orsay museum, Eiffel Tower, Arc d' Triumph, Grand and Petit Palais. It's amazing.

The room I had was 230 Euros a night. I saw one for 290 that was nicer, but it's the view that's worth every penny. The staff is always so helpful and polite.

Oh, the Walt is an excellent choice, I'm sure. Well, almost sure, as I've never stayed there. I've walked by about a zillion times & have always meant to check it out because it looks so spiffy. Can't wait to hear your take on it.

As for eateries in the area, my favorite would be Le Petit Troquet on Rue de l'Exposition, which is a 5 minute walk from the Walt. You can go with traditional French or lighter fare; the presentation is flawless & first-rate. The restaurant is tiny, almost silent, with NO smoke & elegantly set tables w/plenty of crystal & crisp, white tablecloths & napkins. A real gem. You'll likely need a reservation if you plan to dine at a normal hour. However, if you haven't made a reservation & don't mind ducking in there at 6:30 or so, you should have no trouble.
