5 days in Andalucia or Barcelona
 

My husband and I have five days to spend in Spain + plus two travel days. We are flying in from Norway the last week of September. Barcelona and Malaga are the easiest airports for us to get to. We are looking for some beach time hopefully with access to tennis courts and a little bit of sightseeing. My original thought was to fly into Malaga and drive to Sevilla for 2 nights (with a half day going out or coming back in Ronda). We would then stay the remaining 3 nights on the coast either in Malaga or Nerja or another recommendation. Or we would head straight to Nerja and do a day trip to Granada instead of visiting Sevilla. Our other option is to fly into Barcelona and stay there. It seems like the weather might be better for the beach down in Andalucía and not in Barcelona. I would appreciate your recommendations. Thanks!

I think your plan is reasonable, and indeed chances are that the weather be better in Malaga.

Nerja is close to the famous caves, and there are direct buses to Málaga with its fabolous Andalusian atmosphere and Granada with Alhambra, the Cathedral etc.

Great variety of tapas bars and restaurants in Nerja. Lots of good local places, and you could have excellent Italian, Indian, Thai, Chinese food etc. There are also some gourmet options (Sollun, Udo Heimer and Casa Luque). My favorites include La Marina for fish and seafood and El Pulgilla for excellent grilled seafood or meat tapas. Both places are extremely popular with both locals and tourists alike. Free tapas to choose with every drink in most tapas bars/restaurants.

If you go to Sevilla, the world's most important flamenco festival is celebrated from mid September to early October:

Regarding sightseeing: Within three hundred metres in the center of Málaga, you'll find the recently excavated Roman theater, the 8-11th century Moorish Alcazaba, the great 16th century Cathedral and both Picasso's birth-place and the new Picasso museum (2003).
