5 day Seville itinerary

Hi,

Looking for help to improve itinerary for our 5 day stay in Seville in May, any ideas/suggestions are very welcome! :)

I'm not 100% sure about Cadiz day trip, should we stay in Seville instead and see some other things? In this case I would move Cordoba day trip to Tue, 26 May.

Day 1. Sat, 23 May (arriving by bus from Granada)

- 12:00 - 15:00 bus to Seville
- get to apartments in Fabiola street (Santa Cruz area)
- Barrio de Santa Cruz
- Metropol Parasol (before sunset for best views?)

Day 2. Sun, 24 May

- Triana market (worth going?)
- Parque de Maria Luisa
- Plaza de Espana
- More of Barrio de Santa Cruz
- 21:00-22:00 flamenco at Casa de la guitarra (book in advance!)

Day 3. Mon, 25 May

- Day trip to Cadiz (1:40 h by train)

Day 4. Tue, 26 May

- Alcazar
- Giralda Tower
- Cathedral
- Casa de Pilatos

Day 5. Wed, 27 May

- Day trip to Cordoba (45 min by train)

Day 6. Thu, 28 May

- Train to Barcelona

I recommend the Fine Arts museum, one of the best in Spain with lots of paintings from the great masters of the so called golden age in Spanish art (Zurbaran, Murillo, Valdes Leal etc). http://www.spainisculture.com/en/mus...e_sevilla.html

And apart from all the "normal" sights in Sevilla, I will also suggest you go and see the Hospital de la Caridad, it might give you the ultimate Sevilla experience. The 17th century repenting founder Miguel Mañara was - according to himself - "the most evil man that ever lived". All the paintings he commisioned from some of the most famous golden-age arists for the hospital and it's adjoining church dealt with the theme of death and redemption. The hospital, the church, the paintings and Mañara's grave are all in Calle Temprado, 3.

I loved Seville's Museo de Bellas Artes! As kimhe noted, it holds some extraordinary pieces. The day I was there, I saw -- quite literally -- two other visitors. =-O Sad, but also memorable to have the place more or less to myself.

<two other visitors>, he-he, but it's in fact quite popular: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractio...Andalucia.html

@ kimhe -- I'm glad to hear that! I was, quite honestly, dismayed by the seeming lack of interest. Perhaps I just visited at an odd time....

Thank you everyone, will add Fine Arts museum to the list.

How the rest of itinerary looks? Do you think having two day trips is OK or too much in this case? (really want to see Cadiz as sounds like nice city)

Can we add more things to day 4 or will it take most of the day?

You seem to have all of the sites in Seville on your agenda. I would only comment on Day 4 – I’m not sure about trying take in the Alcazar, Cathedral and Casa Pilatos in one day – certainly doable timewise, but these places are so beautiful and trying to take them all in one day might be a little overwhelming. We found Seville very easy to walk between sights and they definitely were not as far from each other as we imagined, so you could easily split the Cathedral and the Alcazar to 2 different days. I would suggest visiting the Alcazar (or Cathedral depending on opening times) in the morning and maybe pairing that up with an afternoon in Placa Espanya and the park – just to give you some variety to your day. You could also wander Barrio Santa Cruz in the same day. Just my opinion, you sound like you have a wonderful trip lined up!

I would also suggest to keep your list of sights and then be flexible about your itinerary. Once you get there, you'll get a better sense of the city and how much time you want to spend in places.
