5 CITIES IN 24 DAYS
 

Hi all,
Pls advise whether my travel sequence is make sense.
Suggestion and critique is welcome.
DECEMBER
1: Arrives Paris
2-3: Paris
4: Paris to Interlaken
5: Interlaken to Wengen, and stay overnight at Wengen
6. Day trip to Jungfraujoch and stay overnight at Wengen
7. Wengen to Interlaken then to Venice
8-9. Venice
10: Venice to Florence
11-12: Florence
13: Florence to Rome
14-16: Rome
17: Rome to Amsterdam by plane
18-19: Amsterdam
20: Amsterdam to London
21-22: London
23: London back to Paris (train ticket bought)
24: Paris
25: Fly home

Why so much rushing around in the winter? Wengen to Venice is a very long drive, especially during that time of year when there will be snow. In good conditions it's over 9 hours of driving, without stops.

If you take the train, plan on spending most of the day traveling, at least 16 hours. Add another 4 hours getting from Wengen to Interlaken.

Why waste day 4 in Interlaken? Just continue to Wengen and spend 3 nights there.

It's 7 1/2 hours Wengen to Venice for early morning departures from Wengen - not sure wher robert gets his figures - Wengen to Interlaken is not 4 hurs but one hour. Anyways 7.5 hurs on a train is a long day to many but not to others.

In Switzerland youmay find the Swiss Transfer Ticket plus a half-off Half-Off Card that you can buy with it the best best - described in latter two sites I post above.

Have you already purchases your plane tickets? It usually makes more sense to fly into your first city and out of your last one - saves time and money.

You are criss-crossing Europe - it would make more sense to start in one place and keep heading in the asme direction. So something like London-Amsterdam-Paris-Switzerland-Venice-Florence-Rome.

Also, your count of cities is off. Even if you count the places in Switzerland as one "city" you have 7 places. Days will be short in December. For me, I think you are trying to cover too much in your time there. Slow down and enjoy some of these wonderful places! Two days in London is completely inadequate unless you have been there many times and are just "dropping in" to do/see one or two things. Likewise, Paris and Rome.

Wengen is at much higher altitude than Interlaken and could be cold and icy or maybe sunny and bright but I'd stay in Interlaken perhaps for nicer or warmer weather and MUCH cheaper accommodations.

You have 7 cities - not 5 - and you're in Paris twice - a complete waste of a day. Agree to go for open jaws tickets - will save both time and money (to get back to Paris).

You need to be aware that you may not be able to see anything of or from the Jungfrau if you are limited to one day. We were in Interlaken 3 days before we got one with decent visibility at the top (if not - no point in going).

I already bought my Paris return trip tickets (30 NOV - 25 DEC). And also London to Paris train ticket, 23 DEC. So, from 1 DEC to 22 DEC is flexible planning.
