So you have an average of 2 full days in each city, 2 train rides and 2 flights.

Hi all,
Is this okay? 30/11 : Arrived Berlin 04/12 : Train from Berlin to Prague 07/12 : Train from Prague to Vienna 10/12 : Train from Vienna to Budapest 12/12 : Plane from Budapest to Barcelona 15/12 : Departs Berlin and back to home |
You only have one full day in Budapest.
On the 12th you fly to Barcelona but on the 15th you fly out of Berlin? How/when are you getting to Berlin from Barcelona? |
Sorry, typo error.

Four full days in Berlin. I am ok with that but others may suggest making it three and spending that extra day in either Budapest or Barcelona. It's really up to you and what you want to see and do.

yellow triangle pressed on Jmart.
it's terribly busy [and "samey" for me but ignoring my preferences, I too would take a day from Berlin and give it to Budapest, which deserves more than a day. |

In the grim gray dark dank December of this part of Europe I'd ax both Buda and Pest and spend a few more days in Barcelona where the weather should be spring-like more than winter-like - lots of things to do in Barcelona and some nice short days trips to like to Montserrat - a thriving pilgrimage mecca in the hills near Barcelona and a fascinating place to visit.

As someone who's done "blitzen travelin'" like this, I can only recommend that you reconsider such a fast pace. Yes, Europe has an amazing public transit system and efficient air travel. It gets to be a real drag when you're using it all the time and looking at cool things (or not-so-cool things) out the window.
Also consider that you're likely to have an off day at some point during this trip. I was wretchedly sick for one full day on our last trip this spring and had the "lovely" experience of trying to locate public restrooms to throw up in repeatedly (and when public restrooms were not available, I was hunting for relatively secluded bushes...of which there were none). It really would have been much nicer to spend the day in my hostel bed, guilt-free. But our schedule did not allow that. The more people in your group, the more important this becomes. Our group was four people. Of those four, three had at least one day -- not the same day! -- that they would have desperately preferred a much slower pace (no explanation for how the fourth person just trucked through everything, but I'm happy for her!). |
Kandace states it well - group dynamics play a part in a fast-paced trip- that said if you say drop Budapest your pace is much more tolerable for all - putting more days into say Vienna or Barcelona.
