4th or 9th arrondisement for solo woman traveler
I will be taking my first solo trip to Paris in April, however I have visited Paris 6 times over the years, so I am familiar in general of the city. I currently have 2 reservations and I have to decide on which one to keep. One is in the 9th arr, Hotel La Petit Lafayette (with balcony). And the other is in the 4th (Marais) , Les Jardin du Marais. I have usually stayed in the 5th and 6th. I would appreciate thoughts on advantages and disadvantages of these locations, please. Merci!

Hi, I tried to look up the hotels and "walk" the streets a little with Google maps, I found Petit Lafayette in the 9th, but the only Les Jardin du Marais I could find was in the 11th, is that correct?

It's just across the road from the 4th so to speak (on the wrong side of Bd Beaumarchais). That hotel is also conveniently located for the market that's going on at Bd Richard Lenoir and for the Canal St Martin. And of course the Marais, which is just across the road.

I love that area in the 9th. I’ve stayed a few times just west of there close to Notre Dame de Lorette.. Plenty of great places to hang out to eat and drink, and just 20 minutes or so walking to the Seine. I think in this case I’d go with the better room.. both neighborhoods are cool. and I don’t think the 4th has the monopoly on gay men, or women.

I really dislike the Marais, would never stay there, I don't think. I do stay in the 9th often and like it. But I say closer to Trinité church or place Toudouze.
That hotel is not in the Marais, however, so I would consider that location. I do generally have a thing about hotels lying about their location though. That one used to be a 3* apartment hotel called Home Plazza Bastille. I stayed in that general area once at a different place and like it pretty well. It is not in the 4th arr. it's in the 11th.
That hotel's name is just Petit Lafayette FYI and the other one Les Jardins du Marais. Petit is masculine.
