4 star hotel in Florence

I'm going on my honeymoon next May/June and am looking for a nice four star hotel in Florence. I would prefer to spend around $400 per night for four nights. Does anyone have a recommendation? I've heard the Villa San Michelle is a real splurge, but I may not want to spend that much.

Thanks in advance,
Natalie

Might I suggest Tripadvisor - read the reviews there, look at the photos, see what takes your fancy and then come back with a few specific queries.

At the moment, in your price range, you could afford most of the top 10 favs

The Hotel Pierre. Location cannot be better, service and staff are very professional.

Hi Natalie,
Congrats on your up and coming wedding. My wife and I honeymooned in Florence two summers ago, and stayed at Torre di Bellosguardo, an amazingly beautiful hotel situated on a hill just outside the main part of town. It is walkable (40mins) into town, although we relied on taxis alot. If you explain that you are on honeymoon and ask for a room with a view there's a good chance they can arrange something for you - we had room 12 with amazing views over Florence. Don't expect all mod-cons, because you won't get them - just a wonderful hotel for a honeymoon - www.torrebellosguardo.com

Check out the Hotel Lungarno. Make sure to ask for a room with a river patio. It's a much more central Florence location than the Villa San Michelle. Having a hotel to which you can easily return to drop purchases or nap a bit is a real asset.

Have a look at the Berchielle--nice location right on the Arno and near the Ponte Vecchio.

Continental. right next to the Ponte Vecchio- walking distance to everything. Built partly in an old tower - and the rooms are charming - and sometimes eccentrric - do work with them on which one you want.

Also has a great roof bar - with wonderful views at sunset. and the best breakfast I have ever had in Italy (blood orange juice - yum!)

Sorry--misspelled the name of the Berchielli.

We honeymooned in Italy July/August 2003. We stayed at The Grand (Starwood Luxury Collection) - email them ahead of time that it's your honeymoon. We did, and we were upgraded to the top floor, with a balcony right on the Arno - plus we had a bottle of champagne on ice waiting for us. The staff and amenities are great. Enjoy and congratulations. You can't go wrong with any of the recommendation given so far.
