All, I have 4 nights on hand to spend around Naples region and at the moment i am so confused on how to go about planning my staying and doing activities and how to optimise the plan to make use of most day light time to explore the places than be travelling and juggling with luggages. So pls help me on this one.
I would reach Naples from Rome on 17th Night around 2030 hrs and i am thinking of spending the 17th and 18th Night in Naples, 19th Morning check out from the hotel and do Pompeii and Herc(if possible) enroute to Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi ? Not sure where i should base my next 2 days. I want this to be a memorable next 2 days because its my moms birthday on 20th. So check-in any of those places on 19th and do Capri and 20th and next 21st to do the coast to coast on sight seeing or SITA bus or take ferry. 21st eve i would want to travel to Florence and halt in Florence. my plan was to take the Sight seeing bus coast to coast and salerno and take the direct train from salerno to Naples and then change to florence, but i think there are no late evening trains from Salreno, is it a good idea to Stay overnight in Sareno, but then my 21st day would be doing with luggages ? Or should i do the other way round, Land in naples evening and straight to salerno for overnight stay and next day be in amalfi ? this looks not too practical I really really confused here. pls give me some suggestions and where i should base myself. I looked at accommodations in Sorrento on 19th to 21st june and they are really expensive or something i dont like, any suggestions here ? and is it really worth to spend a day in naples on 18th? if so, is city center a better place to be in Naples ?

From the brief read - all I can say is...too much.

Frankly it's ridiculous. You want to see Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and have no idea where to stay and then one night on Capri?

Your mom will have a crummy birthday with this insane itinerary plus you've left it way too late to book anything remotely affordable. Sorrento is cheap compared with Positano.

I would suggest staying in Naples - there will be availability there. You need to provide a budget per night in euro before I can advise you any further.

Hi Blueeyedcod, i totally agree with you, This more like a last min plan and i am insanely confused. I would appreciate if you could suggest something for me here. My initial plan was to stay in Sorrento for all 4 night and then do day trips and then i thought i should stay over in naples asi will arriving from Rome late night at 2030 hrs and then i thought its a bit too much to take another train to Sorrento and i wanted to see Naples too. I was looking at some hotels/BB near the Naples city centre last night for 17th, 18th Night. My initial plan was to do Naples on 18th full day and Pompeii on 19th until evening. So 19th Morning check-out from naples, Store our luggage at pompeii Entrance, Do Pompeii, take the train to Sorrento on 19th eve and 20th Day trip to Capri and celebrate my moms birthday and halt on 20th in Sorrento, have a great Birthday Meal in Sorrento and 21 check out Sorrento, Hop on the bus or ferry and do the AC and halt near Salerno on 21th and 22nd Early train to Florence. My budget to stay in Sorrento should be less than 100 euros cos i think there should be many options or if its in AC (Positano, Amalfi, Minori ravello etc, i think i can go a bit more than 150 EURO pn) but the part i am confused is how do i reach my destination(if thats the plan) in AC frm Pompeiii on 19th eve ?

Hi Blueeyedcod, another option is stay 17th Night naples, do pompeii full day on 18th, Back to Naples, 19th Morning check out, store baggage at Hotel, if they provide the faciLITY, roam around Naples , collect baggage and

option 1: take the last ferry and go to Capri and halt in Capri on 20th and 21st. So i hve to do a ferry day trip from Capri untill Amalfi and back on 20th and do Capri on 21st and back to Naples on 21 eve and train to Florence.

option2 : Do Pompeii on 19th and take a private car with driver from pompii to hotel in Amalfi or any near by town and plan 20th as a day trip t0 Capri and back and 21 check out and take a train from Salerno. I think with this 20th day trip to capri from Ferry from Amalfi or Salerno (depending on the accommodation i book, this will save me another day just to do the coast as i will be anyway covering the coast in ferry while travelling to Capri and it gives me 21 a relaxing time and not running around with the bags) I think hhiring a driver from Pompeii to AC would be expensive !

If your budget is under 100 euro per night and you haven't booked anything you will be out of luck.

I just checked Booking.com and this place came up as cheap and available in Sorrento.

Capri is not cheap and you won't be able to stay there for under 100 euro per night so just day trip from Sorrento.

As for Naples, you will find availability - try the Hotel Zara - it is close to the station and historic centre and good value.

I would go with the Naples/Sorrento plan and then take your ferry to Salerno on the last day.

Thanks all for your suggestions, after putting in a lot of thought on the transportation service, i decide to base in Sorrento for 4Nights in Villa Pina Antico Francischiello
Neapolitan Riviera, Sorrento(compromised on budget, alto i am not staying City Center, but hopefully is a good place n has buses to city centre) from 17th June -21st June and do day trips to Pompeii (18th June),AC (19th June) Capri 20th June and check out hotel on 21st mornin(store luggage at the Train station)g, Visit Naples Museum on the way to Florence on an evening train.
Pls give me your valuable suggestion on my next leg of travel in Florence, I havent planned anything in detail but will start from tomorrow but i will take all your suggestion this time before booking. I hope its OK to continue my new query about florence in the same thread. I am breaking doem my 13Day Italy itinerary into small chunks of 4 days for easy of planning.
I would like to base in a Tuscan country side for the 3 Days (from 23rd, 24th, 25th)- drive from florence on 22nd evening and then do day trips to Siena(23rd), Pisa Luca (24th June), Chianti or any other must see tuscan places(25th ) and take evening train to Venice on 25th. The Villa Pina Antico is a good budget choice BUT you will need to rely on buses to get to Sorrento. They run every half hour.

Post a different question about Florence, I don't go there often enough to be of much help.
