4 nights in Dublin
Will be 4 nights in Dublin in Dec. Have been to Ireland twice and this trip just looking to spend time in Dublin...Love the area around Christmas time and just want to stroll and visit the many pubs. Would you suggest to split the time in 2 different areas of Dublin? If that is the case which area's ...like I said mainly for Christmas stroll good food and fireplace pubs..

For only four nights definitely don't change hotels. Stay central, best area (in my opinion) is around St Stephen's Green on the south side of the Liffey. And bear in mind that Dublin is an expensive city for hotels so be prepared for sticker shock...

Look at airbnb or VRBO and stay close to a luas stop. I like Smithfield and there are some great apartment rentals there on the square. Christ Church area is also nice.

https://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p788812vb This says temple bar but is on Cows lane by Christ Church. I have rented from Mary before. Not this apartment but similar. She is great to deal with and you won't find a better price.

Best pubs and restaurants are in the south side.

Colin, we like the riff raff on the northside.

Colin, I was looking at the news yesterday and seems Queen St, Paul St and Blackhall are having a HUGE rat problem in the nicer than normal flats. The city is not doing much to help so the residents are taking them on. I was in Paris this year during all the flooding and the rats were looking for higher ground. I detest them. I am sure they have them on the southside but these things look like cats. I might stay on the southside next trip. :)

Oh my I hope they dont like the cold and maybe will be in hibernation in Dec? Do you think the Grafton St area would be a good location?
|
I am sure it will be ok. I have a rat phobia and Dublin is like any big city. I am hoping they get it under control though. Do you have reservations?

Several years ago we stayed at O'Callaghan's Mont Claire hotel near trinity College and it was very nice. Another benefit was that it is located across the street from the Airport Bus stop and a Hop On Hop Off stop. It was a 5 minute walk to Grafton St. and the center of activities south of the River Laffey.
