Not only was the Rome info helpful for my next trip, but also the Philly parking info! I'm always more excited about vacation when I read a great trip report!

LuvToRoam, when Rene gave me the two lttle bottles of wine she said, "You're going to get drunk tonight." Well, I didn't but I laughed out loud.

Kwren, SmartPark has worked very well for me. Get online and get a coupon for a discount. Here's a link: http://www.smartpark.com/Coupon.htm

Hi Jan!

Monica,

I have booked the Parlamento based on your recommendation. I will be there the week after Easter. Also probably arriving hungry. Got a suggestion near the hotel (since you weren't wild about the one you ate in).

Mille grazie!

travelinfeet-- we have stayed at the parlamento a couple of times and really liked the price and location and owners. (however, won't be staying there when we go in april, as it is a holiday period and it is WAY expensive those particular days... but it's good to try new places, i guess...) anyway-- wanted to say that there is a cafeteria (local style) across the street from the hotel. we have found it really great for those between-meal moments when you just want a little salad, or piece of fruit or whatever... can pick out exactly what you want and then eat it there with no coperto. sometimes when we travel for 3 or 4 weeks, you just want to know exactly what you're getting and it's great for that. and seems to be where the locals all have their at-work mealstimes. kawh- sebastopol, ca

TF, go to Pizza Re. It's just a 1/2 mile, 10 minute walk. Head up via del Corso and left onto via Angelo Brunetti. Right on the corner will be the restaurant (via di Ripetta).

"...there is a cafeteria (local style) across the street from the hotel. ..." It's called Auto Grill.

Da Gino‎
Vicolo Rosini, 4

This place has good reviews. I never got there on the last trip. Just a couple of blocks from the hotel.

Thanks Leely2! I don't get to fly standby too often so I grabbed the opportunity when I could.

monica-- seriously?? it's an 'autogrill"??? has it always been owned by autogrill??? it is so pleasant (well-6 years ago) and so many locals-- i had no idea that it was an international chain? anyway-- as i said-- good for the emergency between-meal moment because you can get exactly what you want.(like after 3 hours of walking but dinner isn't until 9 and you don't want a big lunch... just a veg. to tide you over.) and i remember their fruit and salad as being very fresh. yikes-- i'm recommending an auto-grill on the rome site. not good for the rep!!

Monica, thanks for this lovely taste of Roma. You packed a lot in but it still seemed relax. I had to smile at the thought of you buying limoncello since we're still using your terrific recipe. We'll be in Bologna/Padova in May but I may just sneak in a day trip to Roma to revisit some of our favourites.

Kawh, I have no idea how long it's been an autogrill except to say it's been there since I was there in 2010. The only thing I bought there was a small bottle of wine but that was before I discovered the grocery store nearby.

mvor, a friend of mine is making limoncello with my recipe. I'm waiting to hear how it turns out. Now that spring is here I plan to make a batch to enjoy in the summer. Enjoy Bologna! It's one of my favorite cities.

yestravel, if you're in Rome at the end of November, let me know!

Hi Monica

Luv your photos. I'll be there in May and am keen to source local produce to cook with. Can you recall the name and location of the market where the following photos were taken - IMG 4604-1, IMG 4605-1, IMG 4606-1, IMG 4609-1.

Jim, I've not had grapefruit (can't with my medication) but have had orange and lime flavors.

IMG 4604-1, IMG 4605-1, IMG 4606-1, IMG 4609-1. These were taken at a small market (just a few tables) near or in Piazza delle Coppelle.
