Hello Hkumar.
It seems a bit of a stretch to squeeze in so much in such a short trip....... I'm not quite sure why you would stay in Geneva; if you have time to commute as far as Lucerne your first day, I'd go straight to Lauterbrunnen from Geneva airport. This will be about a 3.5 hour trip by train. I'd spend 3 nights there. It is easy to spend 2 full days exploring the Lauterbrunnen valley, especially if you do a few easy walking trails (highly recommended), say from Mannlichen (reached by train/cable car from Lauterbrunnen) to Kleine Sheidegg. (From Kleine Sheidegg you can catch a train further on to Jungfraujoch, or return to Lauterbrunnen via Wengen.) The second day you could explore Murren and/or perhaps do Trummelbach Falls. If it pours, perhaps you could do a daytrip into Lucerne, if your heart is set on it. I think you are possibly pushing it trying to do Zermatt in such a short trip. You want to stay as flexible as possible, in order to accomodate the weather. What if the clouds finally clear on your fourth day? You don't want to be stuck on a train in such instance, but have a few hours to enjoy it outdoors. But if you're determined, you should know it takes a good 3 hours to get to Zermatt from Lauterbrunnen by train. About the same, maybe a bit longer, to get from Zermatt to Geneva. Don't cut it too fine if your plane is due to leave in the evening! Allow time for contingencies. Enjoy Switzerland. But if you' |
I think your Lucern day is just a tiny bit impossible. It looks like you will be coming from Geneva. That's about 3 hours by train. You would have to be doing some quick touring to see Lucern, cruise the lake and then to Engelberg for Mt. Titlis. It's an hour train ride to Engelberg and I don't know the time needed for getting to the top of Mt. Titlis. And then there's the cruise on the lake?

Hi Sue & Scatcat
The reason to stay for a night at Geneva is that - I will be arriving @ Geneva airport by about 10.00 PM. Due to late time, I decided to stay @ Geneva. What will be the best to cover in Lucern in one day along with Mount titlis - As I am very much interested in Mount Titlis- (Any alternative?) Or would it more better if I skip Lucern and go direct to Grindelwald/Lauterbrunnen from Geneva. Having fun in Murren / wengen & lauterbrunnen - Next day I opt for top of the Europe (hw much time do I need for full njoyment, photos etc at TOE?) If I can visit TOE in half day den I can spent my other half day on a lake ( need perfect suggestion for a best lake in that area) I want to reserve half day of my 3rd day in Zermatt as will be there for evernight. Looking for +ve response Thanks:) |
I don't understand your 4th day. Brienz is on the north side of the lake east of Interlaken. It is not near Zermatt nor is it on the way from Zermatt to Geneva.

since you can fit all your travel into 4 consecutive days IMO the 4-straight day Swiss Saver (if 2 traveling together) is a great deal - covers practically everything carte blanche. And if an American it is significantly cheaper in the U.S. for the exact same pass as the ones sold at stations in Switzerland (compare prices at www.rail-pass.ch for prices in Switzerland in Swiss francs (figure with foreign exchange costs, etc. about 1 Swiss fran to one dollar) and http://www.budgeteuropetravel.com/id3.html - the latter site also has tons of suggestions for doing a Swiss rail journey as does www.ricksteves.com - www.swisstravelsystem.com also has a wealth of info on scenic trains, lake boats, etc.
