4 days in Switzerland in September-What to pack?

Hello! My husband and I will be stopping in Switzerland for part of our Honeymoon. We land in Switzerland on September 20th and will have 4 days to explore. We will be spending the first 1.5 weeks of our honeymoon in Italy which means we will have a lot of summer clothes packed. What are some essentials that I should pack for Grindelwald and Lucerne? I will be bringing leggings and a sweatshirt to hike in, but unsure if Ill be warm enough? Should I also pack a beanie and gloves? Is a rain jacket a must? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have friend who lives on Lac Leman, so down at 'lake level', talked to her a few days ago & they are part of the crazy heatwave happening so many places. Even when it hailed !! and ruined gardens.

How high of altitude are you planning to hike at? (as far as temps and clothing). What's the harm of thowing in a pair of gloves? But if it stays this hot you might need shorts instead -lol.

Switzerland in September (and October and November!) - we've done fine with light weight hiking pants, fleece jacket for cooler days and a waterproof layer...just in case. It never hurts to pack a sun hat, sunscreen, and a fleece winter hat. Chances are it will be warmer than cooler, but depends on how late in September and where you'll be visiting - alpine villages vs lake villages and cities, etc.

a little bit of everything. It’s usually still warm and mild at that time of the year but with mountains, you just never know. Best to keep an eye on the weather report before you leave and pack accordingly.

Weather will vary any historical notes may give you some ideas. I personally would use layers. How cold it is depends on what you are a acclimatized to where you live.
