just booked for mid aug...need help for an itinerary...on very low budget..hotel in louvre area...will buy museum pass...2 many things, 2 little time...some suggest's would be helpful in terms of organization...don't want to be running around...thanx

Obviously, you're a bit late in your planning. You better devote your full energies to finding a hotel asap. At this stage, I'd go to one of the hotel booking services, such as<BR>http://france-hotel-guide.com<BR>There are others, as well.

She may just get good deals anyway since August is the low season. But yes, it is already the end of July so probably a last minute booking thing?

Try www.laterooms.com. Used them last year to book in London and was satisfied with the service. A plus is that you pay the hotel directly.

HI Daisy: We, too, booked at the last minute, due to medical reasons at home. Nonetheless, found a super hotel about which I just posted in response to another query: Hotel Central Saint-Germain. Not exactly in the Louvre area (it's on the left bank, just off intersection of Blvd St-Michel and Blvd St-Germain, but we walked there in about 15 minutes. Paid 109 E per night; for July and August, they have a 4 nights for the price of 3 special. Book thru www.hotels-exclusive.com (they didn't require a deposit, either, which I was worried about after reading some posting horror stories here; you pay when you leave). We were there just last week; got home Friday night. It was a great place...and clean! Good luck! Carla

Four days in Paris:<BR><BR>1)Orientation day: l'OpenTour bus, bouquinistes, Notre Dame, Ile St Louis, St Chapelle. <BR><BR>2) Louvre, Tuileries, department store shopping, Eiffel Tower at night<BR><BR>3) Marais - Picasso Museum, Carnavalet, France History. Walk around and check out all the old architecture. Spend the day, end up at BHV for shopping.<BR><BR>4) Versailles, Musee d'Orsay, stroll the Champs Elysees if your feet don't hurt. If your feet DO hurt, take the Seine River cruise.<BR><BR>Don't worry about where to eat; there are bistros, cafes and restaurants everywhere (PBA: restaurants are open only during meal hours - 11:30-2:30 for lunch; 7-11 for dinner - but bistros and cafes serve food all day). If you avoid the areas heavily populated by tourists, you'll be able to find food at reasonable (budget) prices.

Elvira's schedule is pretty good. I'd add to Day 3 (the Marais) taking a look at the modern art museum at the Pompidou Centre. Also the Musee Cognacq-Jay is very interesting and it's close to the Carnevalet and Picasso museums. Don't forget to take a walk around the Place des Vosges.<BR><BR>If you don't feel like trekking out to Versailles, you could hike up to Montmartre and explore that part of town. Sacre Coeur is awe-inspiring.
