4 days in Ireland

My sister and I are planning a trip to Ireland in September and were wondering if there would be enough time to do the following: Fly in to Shannon, use Dingle Bay as home base and drive the Ring of Kerry and also visit the Cliffs of Moehr. Have we allowed enough time?

Hi Cheryl,

Yes you could do what you have planned.

You may want to think about doing the Killarney Lake drive rather than the entire Ring of Kerry; based upon time/quality considerations.

And while doing the Cliffs of Moher also plan some time for the Burren - quite unique.

Have fun.

Hi Cheryl,
We daytripped from Castlegregory (on Dingle Peninsula) to Cliffs of Moher and the Burren, and to Killarney.
I'm sure we could easily have done the Ring of Kerry, too, but we had our children (9 & 13) with us and chose activities and drives on the peninsula. And there are plenty!!! Don't miss the Slea Head Drive or Conor Pass. A lot of folks who have driven Dingle and "the Ring" say they do rival each other and if you're staying in Dingle, perhaps you would make more of your time by sticking with the Dingle peninsula and the Cliffs, saving the Ring of Kerry for another trip!
We took the Tarbert/Killimer ferry over the River Shannon. It was an enjoyable and easy way to break up the driving from the Cliffs of Moher to Dingle Peninsula.
You will have a wonderful time, whatever you do, so long as you take the time to enjoy it...knowing you just can't do it all....this time!
All your responses have been so very helpful. We'll arrive late afternoon at the Cliffs of Moher- any recommendations for a B&B?

Thanks.

In Doolin (about 3 miles from the Cliffs) we stayed here a couple of years ago, and it was fine -
http://www.kingsway.ie/doonmacfelim/
Nothing spectacular, but near enough to Gus O'Connor's (trad. music every night!) pub and to the Cliffs. We were in Doolin a couple of weeks ago and noticed this place -
http://www.doolinlodge.com/
which also does B&B and looks quite nice. Good location too. Check out the really nice craft shop in Doolin - it has a lovely coffee shop attached (fantastic apple pie and carrot cake!)
That craft shop is Matthew O'Connell's
spot the church spire and follow that road for a it and you can't miss him. Right hand side with the most gorgeous gardens to enjoy, unusual crafs, great tea and scones, wonderful lunchs. a visit to matthew's on a fine day is worth the price of the flight!
