4 Days in Bergen in early December
This will be my second stay in Bergen, and would love to have suggestions for activities, tours, and excursions in the region which would be recommended for this time of year.
Have you visited the University Cultural History Museum? (Not to be confused with the city's Cultural History Museum, closed for renovation when I was there in August, or the University's natural History Museum.)
A little hike down from Fløyen maybe? The route via Sandviken is the nices, imo. Or hike from the top of Fløyen to the Brushytte kiosk? It's a popular and well known spot where people go for a coffee and cake on sundays. It's a good turn around point for a Fløyen hike.
I was also impressed by the set of KODE museums. Really interesting collections (for me the Rasmus Meyers collection stood out) Ulriken can be nice too, for winter hiking. You can go up in a cable car, there's a nice restaurant on top and there's a good deal of hiking to be had. Also, you'll be doing the friluftsliv thing with many "fellow" Norwegians. Utne would be nice for a day trip by boat, the Hardanger Folk Museum is open all year, and Utne itself is a beautiful place. A real Bergen institution is Hollbergstuen, where you'll see many Bergen regulars, often groups of friends who habitually have lunch or dinner there. The food is traditional and good. It can be reached from the street, or, more conveniently in winter, from Galeriet shopping mall. |

thursdaysd--No I did not get to that museum last year, so have put it on my list, if you are recommending it. Thanks!
menachem, I am intrigued by your many suggestions, and have to admit that I am clueless about most all of them. Will Google for more info, and hope you can give me more details as well! Thx!

plr - yes, I am recommending it.
My Bergen post is here: https://mytimetotravel.wordpress.com...usy-in-bergen/ |
Thanks, Vital1975--will begin looking around that website tonight!
@plr, it's all standard Bergen stuff for locals and you should be able to find more information easily. Maybe you'll have to google translate at times, but it's not too hard.
Enjoyed your notes on Bergen, thursdaysd. And thanks again to you menachem for your assistance.
Thanks, plr. Lucky you, getting to enjoy that beautiful scenery!
plr, have fun. Bergen is great
Lykke til! |
