4 Days in/around Amsterdam - - What to do
I'll be flying into Amsterdam May 23 for 4 days. I'm into museums, scenery, and alittle partying. What are my best bets? Thanks!

Unfortunately, the most famous museum, the Rijksmuseum, is closed at the moment due to asbestos being found there. I'm not sure when it's due to re-open, but there are plenty of other museums to visit, covering all sorts of different topics so you shouldn't be stuck for somewhere to go. A few of the most popular ones are the Van Gogh museum, Anne Frank House and Rembrandt House.
If the weather's fine, Vondelpark is nice to spend a leisurely hour or two strolling around and a canal boat ride or a walk around the flower market are also interesting. Amsterdam's a pretty good party city at night - just follow the crowds! |
thanks, Xenos - do you recommend any other cities as a day trip? I've heard some good things about Brugge from this site...been there?
|
I've never been to Brugge, but some friends went there for a daytrip a couple of weeks ago and raved about it.
The only other Dutch city I've been to, apart from Amsterdam, is Breda, where they have a jazz & blues festival every year at the end of May, but I think you may be a little too early for that. |
Hi Tuna,
You could easily visit Gouda, where they make the cheese, and Haarlem for the Franz Hals Museum. |
Do a text search - Wes Fowler and a topic search - Netherlands and you will find some old posts that may help.

If you search on my name, I've posted previously about Enkhuizen and its folk museum Zuiderzee.
