There is an excellent company run by a former Evzone (presidential guard): http://www.athens-walks.com/#!athens-food-tour. You can check out his Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/AthensWalks.

There are many restaurants in Athens offering excellent Greek cuisine, and there are the restaurants in the Plaka, that are tourist traps. Athenians very rarely eat there.
There are also many great shops offering products from small producers from all over Greece.
Have a look at : http://www.culinarybackstreets.com/athens
Regarding tours you can arrange a tour with a local, who will show you around at no cost. I find this to be an amazing new idea, here is the link :

I took the Athens Food Tour in July and could not recommend it enough. We only had two full days in Athens but this was worth the time. The guide takes you outside of touristy Athens into shops and restaurants the locals frequent. The highlight for me was walking through the meat and fish market. We learned so much about the Greeks, how they eat and how they feel about their current economic state. Definitely a must do!
