$350 hotel in London?

We are looking for a good hotel in London for about $350- any suggestions?

nytraveler Jul 9th, 2006 09:56 AM

How many is we - two people that can share one bed?

Any preferences on neighborhood?

Priceline top stars can be good deals in London.

married couple-
someplace easy to get round town to do most sights via subway or walking

If Priceline doesn't work for you try either lastminute.com or Londontown.com

You might specifically check out the possibility of the Thistle Charing Cross which is one hotel routinely discounted on Londontown and gets fairly decent reviews on TripAdvisor.

we enjoyed the location and our stay at the Devere Cavendish in St. James's area. I would think this would work within your budget. Deborah

on your other thread you ask about Egerton House - there are MANY hotels in London w/i your price range, but Egerton House isn't one of them.

Londontown is the first place to check. Then check biddingfortravel.com to see what the recent winning bids on Priceline are . . . . .

I stayed at the Landmark Hotel and found the location surprisingly convenient and the hotel lovely. Some rooms face the street while others face an interior courtyard (odd numbers vs. even numbers). I wouldn't have liked facing the interior but we luckily faced out. You should be able to find a deal for $350/night.

The Renaissance Chancery Court is another good one.

Agree with the other advice you've gotten.

The Franklin Hotel is about a block from the Egerton on Egerton Gardens & a double there is a little more than your budget but it's a very pretty hotel. Check & see if they have any packages.

The Rembrandt is a block away & is less than your budget & has the same great location & it's also a nice place.

If you look hard you can find Grosvenor House for that amount - I like the location.

Grosvenor House in renovation. NOT a good option right now.

I had heard that London was wildly expensive these days, but I had no idea that 350 USD a night for a hotel would be a budget one would have to worry about! To me, that's a luxury vacation. Are we serious here? Is it really hard to find a nice room in London for that price?

janisj Jul 9th, 2006 07:51 PM

No - but the OP posted another thread about a very high end property.

$350 is approx £190 and that is not a luxury budget in London. But there are lots of very good places in the £90 - £150 range.

And Priceline is brilliant for London - not so good for Paris and some other cities, but in London you can regularly get 4 star places for less than $100.

We just used Priceline and got the Millenium Mayfair Hotel for July 22 for $105. The closest advertised price I could find anywhere for that hotel was $330. From what I've read, it's in a great location and a very nice hotel if you ask for a renovated room.
