Hotel Santa Chiara, near the Pantheon, excellent location, very nice little hotel, stayed there last fall.
Or do a search here or in the Rants and Raves section of fodors.com for Rome hotels. Or just keep scrolling down on the left, there have been other inquiries in the past few days.
The Minerva (formerly Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza Minerva - - they bought themselves "back" from the Crowne Plaza collection).

Or the Raphael.

And if these two four-star places are too expensive, then the Albergo del Senato is a great three-ish star (assuming you can be a three-star without a restaurant on premises - - they do have a nice breakfast room, though).

Best wishes,

Rex
Hotel Fontana is a great hotel in a nice location near Trevi Fountain. You will get lots of suggestions; I also think Santa Chiara is good. There are some other neat smaller hotels on www.boutiqueitalyhotel.com. No, I have no financial interest.

Hotel Diana in Rome was a small cozy hotel with a resturant. The hotel was within walking distance of a nice tour company ( 3-4 blocks), and the staff was always kind to the American traveler.
I think the rate 2 years ago was less than $80/night USD/good luck!

Sorry, Kathy - - I didn't see this post before answering your e-mail with the same question. to all others - - my answer.

I have never stayed at the Due Torri, nor recommended, unless perhaps I was
referring to a recommendation made by others. I do not know this hotel
personally. I know of no bad news either.
