30th.Birthday in Paris
 

My Daughter turns 30 &amp; will be spending it in Paris with her fiance Dec.28 to Jan. 4th.<BR>Any idea's what I can send them to see or any wonderful places to enjoy a meal... She has been to Paris before &amp; done all the usual tourist things ?<BR>Is there a mail / order company who I may also arrange a gift wrapped extra present through which could be delivered to their hotel. Thankyou

Hi Aussie, I bought all my china and crystal in France as it was much cheaper than in the US. My china is Bernardaud and my crystal is Saint-Louis. Maybe (if she is into that sort of thing) give her some money to get started. If not china or crystal something decorative for their future home! She should have fun shopping for something like that:)

I imagine any of the big dept. stores will wrap a gift and send it -- try Galeries Lafayette or Bon Marche. Otherwise, flowers are always nice, I'm sure the concierge or her hotel can arrange that. <BR><BR>As for a nice restaurant dinner, how about L'Orangerie (see http://www.parisriviera.com/eeat1.htm<BR>on the Ile St-Louis or le Coupe Chou in the Latin Qtr (www.lecoupechou.com) <BR>or the Fermette Marbeuf near the Champs-Elysees (www.fermettemarbeuf.com) That latter has a beautiful Art Nouveau dining room, but you have to specify when reserving as they have another room that's nothing special from what I've heard.<BR><BR>YOu could also give as a gift a day at a nice place for facials ( called an Institut de Beaute), such as Guerlain, if she likes that kind of thing (www.guerlain.fr). They mention some special service of 1-1/2 hrs that includes a facial.

Suggest something that can be consumed or used (tickets to event/dinner for example) rather than a &quot;thing&quot; that will have to be carried around for the rest of her trip. This assumes that she does not live in Paris.

I would suggest just giving her an envelope with money in it and lable it &quot;splurge money&quot;. I am sure that she will see many things in Paris that she would like to buy, eat, visit, etc. that you would not know about but cost more than she intends to spend. This way she can do something that she really wants to do; she will make the decision of what you will buy her in Paris.<BR>
