I have a hard time understanding why anyone would WANT to stay in Mayfair. Isn't it full of empty mansions/apartments belonging to foreign absentee "investors"? I suppose it's handy for the American embassy (until it moves), or throwing money around on Bond Street. Maybe it's also handy for the men's clubs on St. James St., but isn't nyt female?
Personally, I'm very happy in Bloomsbury, walking distance to the BM and lots of restaurants. I go over to South Ken for the V&A, but the tube works fine for that. Has nyt not figured out the tube yet? Or the buses? They're a whole lot easier these days than way back when I lived in London (Chelsea and Highgate).
