3 weeks in Spain-have I missed anything?
 

- 3 nites Barcelona<BR>- fly to Seville and stay 4 nites - day trip to Cordoba<BR>- one nite parador in Ronda<BR>-one week in Marbella doing day trips to white villages/area-day trip to Granada<BR>Any advice or suggestions re this itinerary?<BR>thx.<BR>

Sounds good to me. We did a similar trip recently and it worked out well. Not too rushed, yet managed to see and do alot but still have much to come back to (which I plan to.)<BR><BR>Have a great trip and let us know how it was when you get back.

If I can squeeze another 2-3 days into trip, where would you suggest I linger or visit?

Try Benidorm if you can fit it in.

We liked Madrid too. Very different from the more historic, romantic cities like Granada and Seville, but for two or three days Madrid has a lot to see. Plaza Mayor, Puerto del Sol, Prado, Gran Via - lots of great areas to stroll and get caught up in more modern Spanish urban life.

<BR>I would not do Granada as a day trip, better as an overnight or ideally 2 nights. <BR>It´s a great city, and just the 2 hour drive each way from Marbella and tour of the Alhambra would take your entire day and not let you soak up the great atmosphere.

We liked Arcos. The Parador there is really great. Rooms with balcony are about 120. If you are real energetic you could do the Allhambra as a day trip. Be sure to get tickets ahead. We got there at 8 and finished about 2. There was a great reasaurant La Mimbre right by the the cab stand as you exit. Ofcourse, Madrid could be a week or so. The Prado and the Reina Sophia (Guernica)--very relevant today. We just got back and I will try to post my summary with some suggestions this weekend sometime. Enjoy. Spain is great.

I would second Benidorm.

I missed where your gateway departure was going to be? We flew into BCN spent 2 nights and then flew Spanair to Malaga which is Marbella area. This flight on their website Spanair.com was 41US/person and was 1hr 10min. Go to Gibraltar. Pick a clear day. Enjoy the town and the views. The beaches in marbella are awful go further north for better. We took day trip to Granada and felt it was over rated. We then circled up to Ronda did the Parador. It was fabulous. There is a taoas bar on a side street pedestrian only across from the parador called &quot;Maestro&quot;, it is on the left side. The tapas are killer and cheap. Local yokel joint. We then drove to Seville. Dumped rent a car and took AVE to Madrid. Madrid is under rated. I wish we would have proceeded further north to San Sebastin. The hotel that was a bargain in Madrid was Intur Palcio at San Martin. 103E/night close to puerto del sol. Try open jaw to fly out of Madrid if you haven't already. We did 6 cities in nine days a bit much.

Benidorm is in the Costa Blanca/Alicante region of Spain and is not thought too highly of by the people of Spain. It's become a real draw for UK citizens and is full of high rise hotels(think Cancun). The King of Spain has said, &quot;The English can have Benidorm, just leave Javea to Spain&quot; Javea is about 45 minutes north of Benidorm and I would really hope if you ever found yourself in the region you would choose Javea over Benidorm.

When is this 3-week odyssey scheduled?

From my point of view your itinerary is too heavily Andalucia-centric. Have you missed anything? Yes! Castile and Aragon; Basque country, Cantabria, the Principality of Asturias and Galicia, not to mention Madrid and environs (i.e., Toledo, Segovia, etc.). You can stay with all the other 'Brits' down there on the Costa del Sol, but as you sit on your deck chair in Marbella, you will have missed SPAIN!
