3 weeks in Spain and Portugal
Hey everyone!
This is my first time posting here but I've been reading a bunch of posts. I'm going to Spain/Portugal for 3 weeks this July and have a rough itinerary and was hoping for some feedback. I'll be spending 2 weeks in Casablanca prior and have flights books already in and out from Casablanca. fly from Casablanca to Lisbon july 12 arrive around 6pm leave Lisbon july 15 to Seville arrive around 3pm leave Seville July 19 (or) maybe Granada 19-20 Cordoba 20-21 maybe a day in Cadiz Seville to Barcelona 19th arrive around 11am (or) Seville to Barcelona on the 21st arrive at 10pm leave Barcelona to Madrid 26th arrive anytime in morning maybe a day trip from Madrid 31st (and/or 30th) fly from madrid to Casablanca 1st arrive 8pm |
No flights from Casablanca to Spain? In my mind, Madrid makes more sense than Lisbon given the rest of your itinerary.
|
Actually right now the cheapest flight from Casablanca has a layover in Lisbon so I figured I would spend a few days there before continuing to Spain.
|
Will that layover of several days in Lisbon be allowed at the cheap fare you've seen?
About your itinerary: All of the above options are possible. Which you pick, and how you proceed, depends on your personal tastes. Cordoba and Granada, after Seville, should be included. Seville to Cordoba is a short train ride, Granada a bit longer because you need to switch to a bus. Maybe fly from Granada to Barcelona (Vueling)? |
Last year we flew from Marrakech to Seville (Ryanair) bussed to Faro Portugal picked up a car and drove over two weeks to Lisbon.
Fantastic! Guess you are locked in but Casablanca is not very interesting at all. El Jadida and Essouera are not far though and Marrakech is a reasonably quick bus ride from there and all are great! Lisbon is a fun city worth some time exploring as is Seville. From there you can quickly bus to other parts of Spain as you please (ALSA busses) |
If I understand correctly, you are giving yourself either about 3 days (the 16th through the 18th) or about 5 days (the 16th through the 20th), with bits to either side, for Sevilla and/or Granada and/or Cordoba and/or Cadiz. Not enough, either way!!! Honestly, in July, I’d skip Andalusia (too, too hot!) – and I say that even though I consider Granada’s Alhambra and Cordoba’s Mezquita to be among the world’s great treasures.
Consider spreading the time you have over Lisbon, Barcelona, and Madrid – or skip one of them and allow yourself some side trips from the remaining two! There is sooooo very much to do and see in and around each of these magnificent cities, that 3 weeks will simply fly. Good luck! |
