3 WEEKS IN FRANCE - 3 BASES

Hi, what would your recommendations be for 3 weeks in France with 3 bases from where I can do day trips? Interests include history, architecture, arts/culture, café terraces. Ok, let’s say one of my base cities would be Paris. I won't be driving. I can land in Paris and leave from my last destination.

Also, the month of travel might be Sept/Oct 2013. It was supposed to be March/April 2014 so I’m a bit tight on time to do my research and plans. Also, what do you think of these months as far as weather goes?

Thanks, as always

I would fly into Marseille and spend the first week in Provence. Then drive to the Dordogne and spend a week there. Then take the train from Brive la Gaillard to Paris & end there.

Thanks StuDudley and HappyTrvlr! I'll research these regions to get more organized.

This is my first time to post. I would like to know how to contact Stu Dudley. I love all of his France advice! I am going nuts trying to plan Dordogne and Loire Valley...and now I see Stu is headed to Lot area...I have some questions for you, Stu. How do we contact one another?

We leave for the Lot & Auvergne in less than 1 week. E-mail me & I'll send you my Dordogne itinerary. I don't have anything written up on the Loire - there's plenty of guide books that describe the Chateaux, which is the main reason most people go there.
