For 135 euro, I fear that you will be disappointed in many European cities and towns of tourist interest. A mini-bar, for example, is far from a given for hotels in that price range.

Continental breakfast is just that, basic breakfast in much of southern Europe. So expecting a hot "American breakfast" would be courting disappointment.

Perhaps if you double your hotel budget you would have a wider range of options.

The least expensive double room at the Capri Palace is 450 euro in season and room prices run into the thousands of euros. So there you might reasonably expect the hotel to provide a shower cap and scrambled eggs for breakfast.

For your price range - which is the low side of moderate you're expecting way too much in major tourist centers.

You probably can get this in smaller towns or in areas farther east. But in London or Paris that budget will not get you a large room, may well not get you AC and is very unlikely to get everything on your VERY long list.

I don;t see anything wrong with wanting those things - I do too - and more. but my budget is typically at least double yours.

Again - you won;t get that in NYC for $200 per night - except in Jan/Mar - which is low season. Obviously you can get all of this in a motel by the side of the highway - and for less - but then where are you?

Frenchwow, I think your requirements could be met easily enough in your price range in Berlin and Vienna and Madrid, to name just a few cities, at least if there is no huge trade fair going on. (I've had a number of hotels in Europe that fit these requirements for rather less than $200/night, but I know it's not possible in every city.)

From tomorrow's New YorkTimes, here is a list of European hotels in your price range--below $150US per night. Not sure about the "full" breakfasts and the mini bars, though!

Thanks for he 150.00 web site. Maybe it is just Paris and Lodon-I will rase my budget to 300.00 for Paris and London. The "loved" hotels were all under 200 a night even the Capris Palace-guess I ot lucky with thosw great hotels.

Hello frenchwow, did you stay at all the hotels while travelling on your own or with a group tour? I ask because I saw your thread inquiring about a good Gourmet Food tour and your comments about not being pleased with the tour groups you have taken. Anyway, if you travel on your own versus with a group you have absolute control over what hotels you stay at and with some good research you should be able to find hotels that meet your requirements within your budget of course.
