3 nights in Zurich or 2 with 1 in Lucern please?
 

People are saying Zurich a business city. Should we stay 2 nights in Zurich and 1 in Lucern? We are then heading on a 6+ hour train trip to Montreux for a night? We are planning a 42 day train trip from Oslo, finishing in Paris.

They are right, Zurich is a good stop for international banking but not so much for sightseeing. You would be better off dividing your 3 nights between Lucern and Interlaken/Wengen. You can then train to Montreux.

I agree with DAX above -- you can easily see Zürich in just a few hours. I would spend three nights in Luzern or in Wengen/Mürren, where you can see/ascend some mountains.

I would spend all three nights in Wengen.

Stay all nights in Lucern and see Zurich as a day trip from there.

I vote no nights in Zurich. Spend 1 or 2 in Lucern and 1 or 2 in one of the villages up in the mountains.

Zurich is only fun if you're visiting your money.

Zurich is also fun if your last name is Khashoggi and you fancy shopping at Cartier and Chanel on the Bahnhofstrasse.

I love Wengen with all my heart and soul.
