3 nights in Tuscany

I am traveling to Florence and Venice with my mom and sister next month. We have 3 nights reserved in Florence and then three open nights before heading to Venice for the remaining 2 nights of our trip. We are planning on renting a car and exploring Tuscany for those 3 free nights. Any advice, itineraries, etc would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,

Katie

A few years ago, we stayed three nites in Panzano at the Villa Le Barone. Nice little hotel that was handy for taking day trips to different places in Chianti.

You need to decide what part of Tuscany you want to explore and whether you want to spend all 3 nights in one place.

March is a little early for guaranteed good weather, and you may find that some lodging outside of cities/towns don't re-open for the season until mid- to late March. Easter is March 27th.

Siena is larger than most people think of when they think Tuscan hill towns. But it certainly is a town built on hills and there is a lot to do there - and its gorgeous and very historic. I was there last March (for three nights, and I actually got two days of rain). So if you want a place where there will be things to do if it rains, and also slightly more to see/do in the evening, then I'd suggest basing in Siena. You could do day trips to some of the smaller hill towns from there.
