3 nights in Prague- Insider Knowledge wanted
 

Hello all,

We have booked a cheap 3 nights in Prague at the start of next month and decided on an un-named hotel to save money. We got the Green Garden Hotel- which was a little further out than we hoped. Does anyone know the area and if it is a safe walk along Sokolska into the old town? It looks to be south of the 'Muzeum'.

I would also appreciate any recommendations of traditional Prague places to go for a drink/food, and also any bars (serving cocktails- yum!) that are centrally located/special and suitable for two 27 year old friends looking for a relaxing and cultured trip to Prague (both haven't visited before).

We're planning on doing all the standard tourist things like Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, the Old Town Square inc. Old Town Hall and St.Nicholaas church, perhaps a walk around the Old Jewish Quarter.

Any advice would be great.

I know a great brewpup in Prague. Their claim to fame is that the beer travels less than 5 (think) meters between where it is brewed and where it is served. The beer is delicious and can be ordered in 4 liter giraffes. Prices are a bit on the high side but the food is traditional Bohemian. Not all of the waitstaff speaks English so if you don't speak Czech, expect to be seating in the "English-speaking" section with the English-speaking servers.

You will find no shortage of bars and clubs.

It is not abd location though the street it is on is very busy, you are just a short walk from 2 metro line Ip Pavlova and Namesti Miru plus loads of tram lines.Transport is great in Prague and very cheap.
Loads of places to eat and drink in the area. Pivovarky Dum is good but gets real busy,Kulovy Blesk is a real favourite off mine but again gets real busy at night. U Kalicha ( the Chalice )on na Bojisti is a very famous pub mentioned in the Svejk books by Jaroslav Hasek, real touristy place with prices to match but a good bit of fun and worth popping in for a few.
