3 night in N Ireland
 

My husband and I will be spending 3 nights in N I at the end of May, arriving in Belfast and renting a car from there. We want to spend time along the Causeway Coast. Does anyone have B&B to recommend as a base camp? Is there anything that you would say is a must see. We will try to see the Giant's Causeway and go on the suspension bridge walk. From here we will drive to Sligo. Thanks, Colleen

Look at Ballycarton House http://ballycartonhouse.com near Limavady. From there you can also drive the Inishowen 100 (take the ferry across Lough Foyle)and check out the Grianan of Aileach, just northwest of Derry/Londonderry. You can also take a walking tour of Derry Walls, and on the coast don't miss Dunluce Castle.

And in the Sligo area do not miss the Gleniff Horseshoe.

Dunluce Castle is a definite "must" for me. (It's quite close to the Causeway.)

If you have the time and enjoy walking and beautiful settings, the "waterfall walk" at Glenariff is lovely.

In Belfast, be sure to go inside the City Hall. (There are tours.) I was very moved by a Black Taxi tour of the areas of Belfast most affected by the "Troubles."

No B&B suggestions, as I always self-cater at my favorite: Limepark. I LOVE N. Ireland.

We based ourselves in Belfast last April for a 3D/2N stay. I can highly recommend the B&B where we stayed--Avenue House at 23 Eglantine Avenue. It's in a nice neighborhood next to Queens University and we found it within walking distance of the CBD but you could easily catch a bus there too. The rooms were very nice, the breakfast was excellent and you couldn't find more accomodating hosts than Stephen and Alice.
I, too, will recommend the "waterfall walk" at Glenariff Park as well as Dunluce Castle. In Belfast, we took the City Sightseeing open top bus tour and were able to get some great photos of the various murals on Falls Road and Shankill Road from the upper deck. The guide's commentary was informative, amusing and even-handed (so I didn't feel like we were getting a one-sided view of history).
Be sure to stop by the Crown Bar and if you can book a snug for lunch, that's even better. We had an excellent meal there at a reasonable price and eating in the snug was a unique experience.

Songdoc-The waterfall walkway looks beautiful- goes on our "to do" list. this list is getting so long we willhave to return for a month next time. We almost didn't plan N Ireland into our trip, but the more we look into it the more time we want to spend there. thankyou for your suggestions

Longhorn55- I think that a sightseeing tour is a good idea for Belfast. you suggest booking a "snug" for lunch. What is a 'snug"? Thankyou
