3 more days, Imperia to Geneva, what to do?

Jump to last reply

We may be adding 3 days to the end of our trip to northern Italy in late September, early October. On arrival in Geneva we will be staying 2 nights in Courmayeur, 3 nights Venice, 5 nights Castellina in Chianti, 1 night Lucca, 3 nights Imperia with friends.

Originally when we left Imperia we would head directly back to Geneva. With the possibility of 3 more days, I would love some suggestions as to a route back to Geneva. I would have a Friday, Saturday and Sunday to book (1 night one place, 2 nights another place or wouldn't mind 3 one night stays) before we headed back to Geneva to stay at a hotel near Geneva Airport.

Route des Grandes Alpes with a sidetrip to Turin?

or

West towards Avignon, and then north through France? What is that area like? We've never been there, and my sister-in-law has never been to France at all. We have been in the Alps in Switzerland and will spend 2 nights in Courmayeur at the beginning of the trip. We love the Alps, but maybe this would be something different, what are the highlights in that area?
