3 months in Tuscany
 
We are planning in spending 3 months in Tuscany with our two children 7yrs & 9yrs - where is a good part to base ourselves - we are going Sep/Oct/Nov Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

It's quite a big place and quite different from north to south and mountains to sea, so I'd say stay near-ish to geographically in the middle, north of Siena.

Sounds like the trip of a lifetime. Good luck with your planning. You might want to check out the Italian section of www.slowtrav.com for some ideas I find it really useful.

Yes, do go to slowtrav.com and pay attention to the various areas of Tuscany---I see it as 5 geographic regions. Location is always the key so decide that first.

There's a lot of general as well as specific information on the Chianti area of Tuscany here: http://www.greve-in-chianti.com and Chianti is definitely a popular option for long stays if you plan to stay in the country or a small town. Does the question of schooling arise?

We are spending 6 months in Canada prior and the children will attend school there and then we plan on home schooling in Europe unless we find a school for them - international schools in Europe are so very expensive. Thanks for the replies
