3 in a room - london
 

we are three adult siblings hoping to stay in one room in london. does anyone know of a hotel with a queen size and single combo instead of a double bed and single? many thanks. happy 2005.

I have seen a budget-minded room with three twin beds, at the Arosfa hotel, on Gower St, near Goodge St station.
The place is simple, but plesant and clean, with good location. Small room, very small bathroom.
I think a triple is 80 pounds per night or so. Cooked breakfast is included, no elevator, no a/c.

I stayed in a triple with three single beds at the Royal National in London. The hotel is gigantic and institutional, but the location can't be beat (Russell Square).

I'm confused. What's a "queen size and a single combo?"

I believe she was thinking of one larger bed that could more comfortably accommodate two people, plus an additional single (twin) bed

However, queen size beds are hardly ever found outside of luxury hotels

My husband, son and I stayed in a double with a cot at the Grovesnor House in Mayfair. The room, with the cot, was absolutely a fire hazard, as the cot blocked the door. We complained, so they upgraded us to the conceriege level, where the room was a bit larger, to accomodate the cot. We felt safer, AND got to avail ourselves of the concierge level amenities!

By the way, I learned on that trip that in England, a "cot" is considered a crib. We got a good laugh when it was delivered, as my son was 9 at the time!

I stayed at the Hyde Park Radnor in October with my two sons, and we had a room with 3 twin beds. It was a fairly large room. The bathroom was very small with a shower but was new. It was clean and I was happy with it - not expensive (for London)and only a few blocks from Paddington Station. My sons ate the breakfast there and they said it was o.k. too. I didn't want to pay the price for a full service hotel which we didn't need and it's not that easy to get a room for 3 people. You can find out more about it on londonby.com

Three adults will be pretty crowded in any London hotel room no matter how many beds. I would stongly suggest you rent a 1-bdrm flat (or a 2-bdrm if it fits in your budget). Most 1 bedrooms comfortably sleep 3 or 4 w/ a double or two single beds in the bedroom and a sofa sleeper or futon in the living room. A flat will not cost much, if any, more than a hotel and you will have twice the space. A living room, bdrm, kitchen and bathroom - compared to a smallish bdrm/bath in most hotels.

Try Holiday Inn Mayfair. My wife and I stayed there, along with my mom, all three of us in one room. They had two queen size beds in our room on the third floor. The room was a little tight, but not any smaller than lots of US motel rooms.

The location is terrific, with the Green Park Underground station just a block or so away. And the area was remarkably quiet, considering we were only a block off of Picadilly Street.

And there was Starbucks right across the street. Get a nice cup of coffee and huge muffin for a cheap breakfast (much cheaper than the 15 pounds per person at the hotel)!
