Hello Friends,

I will be travelling with my husband to Cote d Azur for 3 days on 28th august .We plan to stay in Cannes for 2 days and 1 day in Marseilles(as our flight is from there).

We are basically interested in Beaches and the most famous points... just wondering what are the must do things for a romantic couple!!! We plan to visit Monaco,Nice and Marseilles... Please let us know what should be the typical plan to cover the most and in budget!! in 3 days.

We also plan to take d bikes is it adviceable.. or busus and trains are the best option.. plz give us new ideas.....

You'll be there on a Sat, Sun, and Monday. Most shops will be closed on Sunday in Nice, Cannes, Antibes, and Marseilles - and some on Monday morning also. I would use Sunday for a beach day in Cannes and try to do most of your sightseeing on Saturday. Personally, I would arrive in Marseilles very late in the day & not even plan to explore Marseilles - concentrate on Villefranche, Nice, Cannes, and Antibes.

Get the Michelin Green Guide for the Riveria for things to do & see.

Priyanka: I think you won't have near enough time to do what you want to do. If your flight is at 3 pm, I'm going to assume that you must be at the Marseilles airport by 1 pm, so you only have a half morning.

Here is a link that gives you train travel time summaries:

As you can see, if you did what you planned, you'd spend most of your time in transit. The Marseilles-Nice train travel takes around 2.5 hours.

In your shoes, I'd head for Nice or nearby Villefranche sur Mer right off the bat and stay in one place all three nights. You could then easily daytrip in any direction at will by rail, and then just plop onto the train to head to Marseille day of your flight.

My second area to use as "travel central" would be Antibes.

I agree with Aless - just stay all 3 days in Nice, Antibes, or Cannes & take the train to Marseille on the day of your flight. St Tropez does not have train access and it would really be "too much stuff" for you to add to your itinerary anyway.

I have about a 12 year old copy of the Riveria Green Guide - and it works fine. There are lots of sources for the guide - Google "Michelin Green Guide Cote d'Azur" & you'll find many.
