3 days in Rome

We are going to Italy and we will be staying in Rome for 4 days. We are traveling with 3 kids (2,5,9). Is it advisable to visit Napkes,sorento, and the amalfi coast? Thanks

Not if you value your sanity. :)

What is the rest of your itinerary?

@ira

Our itinerary is 4 days in Rome, 7 days in florence, 4 days in venice. My husband is the one suggesting that while in Rome, we can do a day trip to naples. Is it advisable? Thanks!

No, it's not. Four days in Rome is barely sufficient to scratch the surface of that city.

That would be one very long day trip. Stay in Rome. There is sooo much to keep you busy there.

Stay in Rome during your time there. However, during your 7days in Florence you could do some day trips to some of the many smaller towns in Tuscany.

Another no for Sorento from Rome. 4 days is barely enough for Rome as far as I'm concerned

Your husband needs to look at a map! No offence, but he's completely mad.

Wow, a consensus! LOL!
Have to agree that Rome will fill all your time. Get a good guide book and map. Plan to stay in the historic center to minimize your daily travel with young children. Also, staying centrally will mean you can return to the hotel during the day for naps, or clothing changes.
