3 days in Rome
How's this itinerary? Thanks for any suggestions!
Day 1: St. Peter’s, Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, Castle of the Holy Angel Day 2: Colosseum, Via Sacra, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, monument Vittorio Emanuele II, Mouth of Turth Day 3: Pantheon, Column of Marcus Aurelius, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Fountain of the Four Rivers, Navona Square, Arch of Constantine, Trajan’s Column, People’s Square, Campidoglio Square, Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major |
Move the Arch of Constantine, Trajan's Column and the Campidoglio to Day 2 as they are all right around the Forum.
Otherwise, looks good. |
And, do not miss The Galleria Borghese---you will need a two hour time slot reservation your hotel can make for you.
It fits on day 3. |
oh, thanks a lot, guys!

Suggest you start using the proper names for places or you may have trouble on the spot.
Piazzas - not "squares". Castel SantAngelo - not Castle of the Holy Angel. Signs will be in Italian. You may see some in English somewhere - but you really need to prepare for a different language. |
nytraveler--concur. Had to google "Castle of the Holy Angel" despite the fact, as it turned out, that I've been there a number of times.

May I recommend a Vatican tour? We did the Walks of Italy Pristine Sisitne tour and it made everything so much more meaningful. At the Colosseum, we took the "official" tour, which I think was only 5 euros and was done by an archaelolgist. I wish we had done a tour of the Forum, too.
Try to be in Piazza Navona in the evening - much more magical! Someone posted recently that the Trevi Fountain is closed. I haven't confirmed that but missing it would be a real loss. Hope you love Rome as much as we did! |
Thanks for posting this. I will be going to Rome next year so have been researching things recently. It has been a while since my last visit and can't remember all of the places to squeeze in for 3 days. I knew of each place listed so using the "proper" Italian name didn't matter to me.
I also found that Trevi Fountain is being renovated so it's covered in scaffolding. Read the reviews on tripadvisor. One is especially funny. I also read it is not expected to be completed until Oct 2015 so months after my visit:(. |
Yes the Trevi is under scaffolding. On the plus side, you can actually walk through Piazza di Trevi which is almost impossible most of the time. http://www.thenational.ae/blogs/all-...way-over-trevi
The colosseum is also - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/1...n_4078012.html Also the Spanish Steps |
Order your tickets for the Vaitcan Museums and Coliseum/Forum/Palatine same ticket) online in advance it will save you hours of standing in line. Buon viaggio!
