3 days in Riga? Any places that worth to visit or to see?

Hello All,

My family of 4 will go to Riga in the coming July. However, there is only few informations about Riga. After Riga, we will continue our trip to Vilnius.

Do you have any good ideas?

Hope you can share with me.

Hi Gavin,

3 days are just a perfect length of time to enjoy Riga. I'd say the best is just to wander around the historical centre, relax in the parks by river and take it easy

Just make sure not to miss the Freedom Monument, it's the main landmark.

There are also plenty of relatively cheap restaurants, so you can enjoy those as well.

One of the best views of the city is from the Skyline bar - it's a cocktail bar but you can easily get just some basic drinks and enjoy the view. www.skylinebar.lv

Otherwise I found this list useful: http://www.inyourpocket.com/latvia/r...acesofinterest

If you are interested in architecture, Riga has plenty of art nouveau buildings. Also the zeppelin hangars which are used as an indoor market are a must see, they are scheduled to be demolished apparently. I found the Riga Museum of Occupation very interesting.

And as I posted on your other thread: get a guide book! I know they are expensive in Hong Kong, but they do exist. Try the bookstore in the IFC mall.

No there isn't. Start with the In Your Pocket link above from Geekery. Lonely Planet, Fodors, Frommers, Rick Steves, DK, Insight all have information.

I recommend the KGB House branch of the Occupation Museum, held in the real KGB interrogation HQ. This is a temporary museum; future plans are the subject of some debate I know nothing about.
