3 days in Paris - apartment or hotel?
We are taking a short girl's trip to Paris from Ireland in June. We have gotten used to renting apartments in Europe and love them but I am wondering if they will rent for 3 days in June and would it really be cheaper. There are three of us and one of us is a twentysomething who has never been to Paris. We stay in the 7th when we go but I am thinking the 6th would be better for the younger two women. Also, would a triple hotel room be a better way to go? Do thye even have those in Paris? Thanks!

Yes,there are apartments that rent for less than a week that I have found on VRBO. Not sure about Paris Perfect but email the owner/manager on the apartment you are interested in.

There's a certain amount of overhead moving into an apartment and out: meeting with the agent and getting the keys, checking for and buying supplies, cleaning up before leaving, etc. I would think all this would cut too much into the short time you have in Paris.

VRBO# 58971 is a great one bedroom with comfortable pull-out bed in main room. Quiet, secure, super location in the 6th.

grandmere - this apartment is awesome but booked for our dates. Mimar - what you say makes a lot of sense. Will think about this. Anyone else?

My nephew rented a place via AirNB for a short term stay, in the 3rd.

My knowledge of AirBnB is that it is more of people renting out their sofas to post adolecents, and not always legally. (Just read about this in New York magazine.)

My nephew is a bit of a gipsy/world traveller, so that could be so :) He paid something like 58 euro for a bachelor, no co-habitation

Vacation in Paris rents most all of their apartments by the night. http://www.vacationinparis.com/
HIGHLY recommended agency and not just me - search them here on Fodor's forums. You'll get a much better deal on an apt. verses a triple hotel room (and more room). |
There are some triple hotel rooms, sure. Not that many, of course, but there are some. They won't be roomy unless you spend a lot. If your main goal is to save money, which it seems it is, an apt probably will be cheaper and there are some that rent for 3 days, but not many. You just have to look a lot. Is that price on the VRBO (which doesn't even quote a daily rate, only weekly) okay with you? Because that is around 160 euro a day and you can probalby find something at that price point in a hotel, although June's rates are not cheap.
http://www.trianon-rive-gauche.com/ this is a 3* hotel I've stayed in which is in a great location in St Germain. It does have triples for 218 euro in June with some special rate (3 days or prepaid or something). That is as cheap as they get. But there are cheaper hotels, of course. Now this hotel is similar to a hostel in ambience (but is a hotel) but a great location in the Latin Qtr and it is only 120 euro for a triple in June (and that is with a shower and WC ensuite) http://www.hotel-marignan.com/html/p1_a.htm This is a real cheap hotel in St Germain, a very good location, and it has triples for only 120 euro http://www.france-hotel-guide.com/en....php?langue=en |
This hotel in the 6th has triples for about 140 euro, I believe. Another super location; two min. walk from both St. Michel and Odeon metro stops.
No elevator in the building that dates from the 17th century, but lots of charm. www.hoteldulys.com |
Vacation in Paris has a nightly fee quoted, but they do have apts they won't rent for only 3 nights, although others they they will. YOu have to check each listing, some say 3 night min., some 4 night min. And be sure to add in the short-stay fee when comparing rates. But they do have some reasonable ones.
One big problem with these cheap apts may be that they will probably have one double bed and then a single or pullout sofa (if you look at studios or 1 BRs), and I assume you want three separate beds. May be a problem for a triple hotel room, also, although I think Trianon Rive Gauche does have a room with 3 beds, not sure. It really depends on your budget, it is possible you could get a twin-bedded room plus single for an acceptable price in a real cheap hotel and then wouldn't have this bed problem. Of course, it isn't clear what the budget even is, maybe it's a lot higher than I am thinking. |

We stayed at this island location just steps from Notre Dame. As recommended by bardo1, to use vacationinparis. They mail you a key, so you don't lose time checking in. Outstanding! Not far from reasonable dining, and groceries. |
